Welder

Utilizes all hand tools and grinders. Helps out senior welders/ fabricators when asked. Set-up and use oxygen/ acetylene torch for cutting purposes. Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding. Set-up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters and drill presses. Positions, aligns, fits, preheats workpieces, and weld parts together. Designs and constructs templates and fixtures. Distinguishes varying thickness' of metal materials. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
REQUIREMENTS
Has the ability and knowledge to read and understand all aspects of blueprint reading. Has the ability to make decisions regarding proper weld and material for each specific product requirement. Must be able to distinguish between S.S. hot rolled, cold rolled and different alloys. Must have basic knowledge of setting-up welders, wire size and kind, and the types of gases to be used. Must be able to set-up and operate the floor roller and uni-punchers. Must also be able to set-up and operate the 5'& 10' rollers, all punch presses, all shears, and all drill presses. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
