Voice Administrator II (10152)

Purpose
The purpose of this Network Operations Center (NOC) position is to provide technical support of all VoIP services including any ancillary system.

Role
This position is responsible for performing provisioning test & turn up, routing and translation changes, maintenance, repair, standard operating procedures, and providing support to level 1 Voice Administrators as required. The Voice Administrator function at the Network Operations Center is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and requires staff members to rotate work schedules and work days. This position is a member of the NOC Voice Operations team and directly reports to the NOC Voice Operations Lead, NOC Voice Operations Supervisor, and NOC Voice Operations Manager.

Essential Functions
Manage the following components of the voice complex:
Cisco BTS softswitch
Trunks
Trunk groups
SS7 Links
Dial plan routing
Translations
Voice mail servers
Announcement server
MGX
Voice firewall
Cisco routers (DPOM provisioning)
Netscreens
SBC
Various circuits
Maintain problem ownership and accountability
Interact with other NOC teams to resolve issues
Interact with vendors and other carriers to resolve issues
Respond to maintenance and trouble tickets
Monitor and Respond to all e-mails.
Perform basic problem isolation, troubleshooting, and network recovery
Utilize various sniffers and test gear to identify and troubleshoot issues
Perform daily checks, proactive monitoring, and alarm verifications on all voice components
Perform upgrades
Perform migrations
Perform back-up’s
Perform DPOM “connectivity” support
Create documentation & detailed reports
Provide project support as assigned
Perform preventative maintenance routines
Standard operating procedures- as determined
Engage level 3 Voice Administrators as required for additional support
Attend training as provided
Demonstrate proficiency on the following:
Voice over cable general concepts
Advanced circuit troubleshooting concepts
Dial plan, routing, translation concepts
REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
College degree or equivalent work related experience is required
CCNA/CCNP is preferred

Work experience should include a combination of Networking experience, Administrator experience, Carrier experience, and VoIP experience.
Experience and skill with Operating Systems: Solaris, UNIX, Linux, and Windows.

Experience with DNS, VERITAS, TCP/IP, SQL, SIP, SS7, DS1-DS3 circuits
Experience working with voice test equipment/test sets

Working Conditions
Applicant may be required to work both inside and outside of the facility.
Applicant will be required to work various rotating shifts (Days, Swings, or Nights) as assigned.
Rotating weekend on-call availability is required.
