Technical Operations Supervisor

Responsible for the production and the output of TMDE/PMEL Equipment in a Type IIA Metrology Lab
REQUIREMENTS
The Technical Operations Supervisor shall have knowledge of electrical, mechanical, physics, optics and thermal principles, mathematics and number systems, operating principles, use, care, and repair of TMDE and laboratory standards; analysis and interpretation of technical data, including block, schematic, wiring, logic trees and troubleshooting techniques; calibration traceability, metrology techniques, laboratory practices; computer software, and operations principles; procedures for training, supply maintenance data collection and quality programs; equipment scheduling, production and material control; facility requirements and support equipment. He shall be knowledgeable of hazardous materials and waste handling procedures in accordance with environmental standards, aware of safety requirements and have a basic knowledge of first aid, including CPR. Also experienced in laboratory supervision and planning; the establishment of training programs and requirements; planning supply, facility and budget requirements; managing the quality control program.

The TOS will possess qualifications as a TMDE Technician with a minimum of 6 years experience in TMDE and two years experience as a supervisor. Mandatory qualifications will further include experience in directing functions such as installing, testing, modifying, repairing, calibrating, and certifying calibration standards, working standards, and TMDE. Education and training, as applied to PMEL, shall include operating principle of TMDE including calibration and working standards; schematic diagrams, circuits and logic diagrams and principles of servo mechanisms as mandatory requirements. Training is also required in safety, including first aid, particularly CPR techniques. Training in Air Force supply procedures and personnel management and administrative techniques is desirable. The TOS will be an alternate QPE with specific duties each month, i.e., perform IPRs. He is also the primary substitute for the Program Manager.

The TOS shall coordinate daily with the Lead Technicians the daily workload requirements to include but not be limited to ensuring that the oldest TMDE items are worked first. The TOS will monitor the output and provide direction to the use of excess resources (part time employees and overtime) to meet the contractual 5 day requirement.
