opportunities are constantly arising within our organization!JOB TITLE: Switch ManagerSummary: Leads both Central Office and CPE technicians for service, repair and
capital installations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Establishes
guidelines and performs as necessary daily, weekly, and monthly routines for
their Markets. Coach technicians for customer relations, processes, test
equipment, internal software and mentoring for professional growth. Establishes
guidelines and perform as necessary to maintain other miscellaneous equipment
associated with the Switch Center, POPS, Collocations and customer premise
(including PBXs). Primary customer contact (in person and other means) on
escalations and accompany Sales for essential customer presentations. Interfaces
and coordinates with other departments within Switching Services and Network
Services to accomplish a task for the site. Repair and Return of damaged circuit
packs and management of contractors and vendors. Supervisory Responsibility
Direct supervision of Technicians primarily through Technical Supervisors.
Prepare and perform evaluations. Scheduling to include time sheet approval,
overtime, vacation and sick leave. Praise recognition and disciplinary actions
of employees. Mentoring and succession planning are also required.

self improvement and for the company. Education and/or Experience Bachelors
Degree and 5 years or a combination of education and 15 plus years in the
industry. Must have prior supervisory experience. Training/Experience on Adtran,
NEC systems, PBXs, Nortel’s DMS500 switch, Optical transmission equipment,
&/or DACS systems is preferred Should be familiar with the back office
systems. Working knowledge of any two of the following are required Frame Relay
Switching, ATM, VOIP, VPN, Routers, Bridges, Fiber Plant or Nortel Transmission
equipment (OC12, OC48). Language Skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret
technical procedures and memos. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively
verbally and written is required up to and including at the C- level.
Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as
percentages, discounts and proportions. Ability to apply these concepts to
practical situations, i.e. budget, purchase orders, and contracts. Reasoning
Ability Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw
valid conclusions. Ability to systematically troubleshoot CPE, network element
and process problems. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Some travel is
required; therefore, a valid driver’s license is a must. Computer Skills Working
knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The
ability to learn other systems such as Oracle, Lotus Notes, Remedy and MetaSolv
are also critical. Hardware knowledge, MS Project, Access, Router configuration
and web authoring are also a plus.
