POSITION SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to create and champion the strategic data architecture for the Client. This includes:

•Leading the creation of standards, best practices, and principles on data architecture that is consistent with enterprise architecture.

•Guiding application development efforts toward sound data models in alignment with a cohesive technical reference architecture.

•Creating the policies, procedures, artifacts, and processes around technology governance with respect to data architecture.

•Assessing the evolution of the enterprise architecture with both a business and technology focus.
REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Position will provide leadership and direction to the application development staff. This position will also be responsible to manage Technology and consulting vendor/partner relationship, service delivery and overall performance.


•Develop detailed project plan for complex, strategic client engagements, estimating, tracking and management

•Create job descriptions, training program, and career path for data architects. Conduct performance evaluations. Hire data architects.

•Analyze short and long term resource needs, in conjunction with infrastructure demand management process and ePMO, and adjust staffing and resources appropriately.

•Attend customer meetings for ongoing and prospective projects utilizing data architecture resources. Determine resource needs and assign staff. Maintain liason with customer to communicate progress of deliverables for resources and any changes in resource allocations due to higher priority projects. Assess and communicate project impacts to customers based on resource and financial changes.

•Ensure completion of deliverables with adherence to timelines for architectural engagements; track milestones across internal and external (customer) project plans.

•Identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken to reassess, renegotiate, and amend scope of work responsibilities, proposals, contracts, and budgets.

•Tracking project plans to verify progress and taking corrective action as required to maintain the schedule, scope of work, quality and budget

•Setting goals for the data architecture team and leading team to achieve those goals

•Leading client meetings and providing frequent status updates

•Performing periodic status checks with implementation team and providing reports supplying budget and project status health to management as needed

•Provide leadership and direction to the Data Architecture staff

•Take ownership of assigned data issues, coordinate meetings with various teams and drive to resolution

•Drive enterprise data architecture strategy and implementation initiatives

•Coordinate with a wide range of technology groups to manage expectations

•Participates in financial responsibilities for Enterprise Architecture to assist the manager including monthly financial forecasting of expenses. Ensures revenues are accrued and invoices are accurately processed through the PeopleSoft accounting system. Participates in fiscal year budget planning processes with manager.

•Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to customer

•Holds regular status meetings with Data Architecture team

•Keeps Data Architecture team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news

•Approves team member’s time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.

•Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.

•Effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions to our external customer

•Other duties as assigned by the manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 6 employees plus any consultant(s)/contractor(s) performing duties for the team.

•Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

•Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employes; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

•Establish common goals and set high bar with crystal clear expectations

•Create and nuture an environment which partners with other MIS groups in both architectural engagement and review processes.

•Promote and live the culture

•Manage the impact of change, which comes with dynamic changing needs of internal and external customers

•Provides coaching and mentoring to the staff in the Enterprise Architecture group.

•Represents the client at industry and external organizations.
