Prepress Technician

We offer graphic design services, full color and 4-color process printing, wide format printing, black and white and color copying, as well as mailing services. •Join with the other members of the prepress team to complete all tasks to guarantee that company goals and customer objectives are met.
•Participate as a key player in the company by supporting operations as needed.
•Provide training and advice to customers on the preparation of digital files.
•Keep current on latest technologies and software tools.
•Operate all equipment in accordance with operating instructions.
•Preflight and troubleshoot customer digital files, load fonts, inspect graphics, and make color separations.
•Prepare files for output to film/plate.
•Output files to image setter; set line screens, resolution, and other press-specific settings.
•Operate and assist in maintenance of image setter.
•Produce and proof all plates and film, making color key and blue line proofs as needed.
•Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
•Make backups on a regular basis and organize files for safe keeping and for easy retrieval.
•Inform supervisor of equipment problems.
•Perform routine computer maintenance, including software updates and utility programs.
•Comply with all OSHA safety requirements.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 2 years of prepress experience.
•Minimum of 1 year of practical experience in graphic design.
•Excellent language and communication skills.
•Thorough knowledge of professional publishing applications for Mac OS (Macintosh) and PC (IBM) including: Quark Xpress, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Macromedia Freehand, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Publisher, CorelDraw, Corel WordPerfect, Adobe Photoshop.
•Adequate knowledge of Macintosh and Windows platforms and operating systems.
•Knowledge of printing terminology and practices.
•Knowledge of PDF and postscript files and PDF plug-ins.
•General knowledge of utility programs such as file compression, disk repair, print spoolers, PC to Mac, and Mac to PC conversion processes.•Ability to prepare files for output to film and plate (spot and 4-color process), receive and manipulate files electronically and maintain operating system on production machine.
•Experience in paste-up and book imposition.What we offer:

REQUIREMENTS
