Plant Electrician
When applying on the Aquila website, please look for reference #060169* Wire, unwire, maintain, diagnose and repair electric equipment such as motors, motorized actuators, lighting, electrostatic precipitators, soot blower and electrically powered equipment.
* Install and maintain electrical conduit, raceway, electrical bus, and ducting systems.
* Install and maintain electrical wiring, cabling, and power distribution systems.
* Install, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage (120/208/480V), medium voltage (2300/4160)and high voltage (13.8/22KV), panel-boards, motor control centers, transformers, distribution switchgear, and generator equipment.
* Install, troubleshoot and repair hard-wired relay logic and Programmable Logic Control systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform all aspects of physical labor including, but not limited to:
• Ability to lift 50-60 pounds.
• Ability to crawl in and out of manhole size and type openings.
• Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Ability to use a shovel.
• Ability to distinguish colors correctly.
• Ability to communicate with coworkers verbally, in writing, and byusing arm and hand signals.
• Ability to wear safety equipment such as approved rubber gloves, sleeves, goggles, earplugs, respirators, hard hats and other safety equipment.
• Ability to perform CPR and First Aid.
• Ability to use all hand and power tools and test equipment associated with the electrical/electronic trade.
• Ability to work in all kinds of weather, extreme heat and cold, rain, snow ,wind, mud, or night.
• Ability to work for prolonged periods of time at the job site and be available for overtime and emergency call outs.
• Ability to perform other duties as needed, i.e., use an 8-pound sledgehammer, other small tools and equipment such as hammers, pliers, wheelbarrows; handling 4 to 6 inch diameter vacuum hoses, or ¾ to 3 inch diameter water hoses.* Must reside within 25 miles of the Sibley Power plant.
* Must achieve a passing score on the Power Plant Maintenance Position Selection System (MASS) test, and the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) test, and the Power Plant Electrician's written and practical tests.
* Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
* High School diploma. Electrical apprenticeship, two years of higher technical education in electrical or equivalent military training.
