We developed as a result of an acquisition of the wireless businesses and assests of both Blackfoot Communications of Western Montana and 3 Rivers Wireless of Central and Eastern Montana. Chinook Wireless Switches From CDMA to GSM - 2006-05-23
Chinook Wireless has selected Nokia to build a GSM/GPRS/EDGE network throughout Montana, USA. Nokia is supplying the entire radio and core network, along with network services. The companies have signed a five-year supply contract covering equipment, network planning services, deployment services and Nokia Care services. Chinook Wireless will be deploying one of North America's first 3GPP Release 4 network architectures, using Nokia's mobile softswitch solution MSC Server System. Additionally, Nokia is providing a portfolio of services, including network planning, installation, integration, and testing.

Nokia says that the GSM/GPRS/EDGE network will replace Chinook Wireless' CDMA network.

Job Summary:This position is responsible for maintaining assigned network sites including physical maintenance of GSM Network
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage construction of network site.
Physical Maintenance of assigned Global Systems for Mobilization (GSM) Network.
Track customer issues in assigned market area and working to resolve those issues..
Coordinate with the quality assurance specialist on issues and outages.
Adjust or modify equipment to enhance equipment performance or to respond to quality control.
Analyze test readings, computer printouts, and trouble reports to determine equipment repair needs and required repair methods.
Assemble and install communication equipment microwave, GSM and base station equipment.
Clean and maintain tools, test equipment, and motor vehicles.
Collaborate with other workers in order to locate and correct malfunctions.
Communicate with management to receive instructions or technical advice, or to report equipment status.
Determine viability of sites through observation, and discuss site locations and construction requirements with customers.
Diagnose and correct problems from remote locations, using special switchboards to find the sources of problems.
Safely drive crew trucks to and from work areas.
Comply with the company safety policy.
Inspect equipment on a regular basis in order to ensure proper functioning.
Maintain computer and manual records pertaining to facilities and equipment.
Perform database verifications, using computers.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including adjusting and lubricating components, and painting worn or exposed areas.
Refer to manufacturers' manuals to obtain maintenance instructions pertaining to specific malfunctions.
Remove loose wires and other debris after work is completed.
Repair or replace BTS equipment such as defective components, and associated equipment.
Request support from technical service centers when on-site procedures fail to solve installation or maintenance problems.
Review manufacturer's instructions, manuals, technical specifications, building permits, and ordinances in order to determine communication equipment requirements and procedures.
Run wires between components and to outside systems.
Test circuits and components of malfunctioning wireless communications equipment to isolate sources of malfunctions, using test meters, circuit diagrams, and other hand tools.
Test connections to ensure that power supplies are adequate and that communications links function.
Test repaired, newly installed, or updated equipment to ensure that it functions properly and conforms to specifications, using test equipment and observation.
Skill to:
assess accounting standards and guidelines.
perform technical procedures.
operate various office equipment such as a computer, 10-key machine, copy machine, machine and multi- line telephone.

Education and Experience:
Two year Technical Degree or three years of technical experience.
