Mechanic - Trucks

We have a Truck Mechanic position open in Brenham, TX.
Responsibilities
Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, technical manuals and laptop.
Performs repairs and maintenance on electric, diesel and gasoline trucks including front-end loader, roll off, and other district vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repair of engines, chassis, driveline, body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, wheels, and tires.
Overhauls gas or diesel engines, using hand and power tools, manuals and hoists.
Examines protective guards, loose bolts and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments, using handtools.
Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems. May discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
Completes paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied times (work order times versus time card times).
Makes emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks that break down while driving a collection route.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent academic training required.
1 year of related heavy equipment maintenance required.
Valid drivers license required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of electrical, power, transmission, brake and other gas and diesel automotive systems required.
Knowledgeable of and capable of performing repairs in an efficient, effective and timely manner required.
Ability to safely drive the service truck to perform repairs required.
Ability to communicate effectively required.
Ability to read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing required.
Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related health and safety standards required.
Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical or trade school certificate preferred.
Certificate in electronic diagnostics preferred.
ASE certificate preferred.
Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience preferred.
