Major Systems Supervisor

Responsibilities: Manage each of three Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and
associated Data Acquisition & Handling System to ensure compliance with
acid rain regulations.
Daily calibration check observations and data integrity monitoring.
Detail record keeping including maintenance and QA/QC log books.
Preparation of all CEMS data for quarterly EPA submittals.
Coordinate and assist as needed, with all CEMS and opacity preventive and
corrective maintenance.
Coordinate and ensure successful Quarterly QC activities, and annual
RATA “certification” testing.
Verify accuracy of detailed data reporting on all testing activities.
Maintain good familiarity with expected emission levels to actively detect signs
of any CEMS problems.
Maintain good familiarity with federal regulations to ensure plant compliance.
Revise CEMS QA/QC procedures & SOPs as needed in conjunction with
Environmental Department.
Train technicians as needed on CEMS.
Initiate & coordinate modifications to CEMS necessitated by plant modifications
(e.g. addition of FGD scrubbers & bag houses ).
Send out monthly data summary sheets.
Check for invalid or missing data on a weekly basis.
Maintain accurate & complete Acid Rain File and Illinois EPA File keeping
CEMS equipment and files in audit-ready condition.
Monitor SCR Operations & coordinate Maintenance to ensure reliable
operation as close to 100% as possible.
Monitor 30-Day Rolling Average compliance.
Inspect SCRs as outages permit, and initiate repairs.
Pull catalyst samples and submit for deactivation testing.
Assist with Catalyst Management Plan and determine catalyst replacement
schedule.
Tune Ammonia Injection Grids as determined necessary.
Have a good working knowledge of Consent Decree details and ensure
compliance.
Maintain accurate & complete Consent Decree records for proof of compliance.
Have a good working knowledge of Title V Permit air regulations to ensure
compliance.
Maintain well-organized Title V records for proof of compliance.
Prepare for and participate in internal audits.
Prepare for and participate in Illinois and federal EPA audits.
Coordinate chimney elevator maintenance activities to ensure safe & reliable
operation.
Coordinate all chimney inspections & maintenance including Aviation
Obstruction Lighting.
Manage Continuous Mercury Monitors on each stack
Manage Continuous Particulate Monitors on two of three stacks
Other duties as assigned
