Maintenance Manager

JOB SUMMARY/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT:

Responsible for developing and recommending maintenance procedures, evaluating body damage estimates and invoices, inspecting turnback vehicles, maintaining facility inventory and administering safety programs. Supervises mechanics, assistant mechanics, shuttlers and tow truck drivers.

The organizational impact involves problem solving and decision making pertaining to the development, implementation or interpretation of procedures which are central to the major business systems within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Develop, recommend and implement maintenance procedures to improve productivity and efficiency.

Receive and evaluate written body damage estimate; order and negotiate maintenance parts.

Evaluate, review and monitor invoices to insure that all items ordered have been received.

Select, assign, train and evaluate subordinate personnel and recommend associated personnel actions.

Review and inspect body and mechanical condition of turnback vehicles, approve or dispute inspection within manufacturer program standards.

Update and maintain maintenance record of fleet and shuttle buses.

Maintain facility inventory and oversee the maintenance of facility to ensure proper compliance with environmental protection agency regulations.

Administer and monitor current federal and state safety programs.

Coordinate the transportation of vehicles to and from body shop and locations.

Develop and maintain logs for accidents and body shop repairs.

Negotiate with vendors on cost and service for glass, upholstery and repairs as needed.

Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Education/Experience


Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline

Technical training in automobile mechanics.

At least 3 to 5 years of car rental experience.

Supervisory experience in the car rental industry or mechanical field preferred.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Skill


Proficiency in the use of vehicle diagnostic equipment.

Knowledge of car rental operations and guidelines.

Skill and proficiency in the use of personal computer and CRT.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Good organizational and administrative skills.

Ability to effectively supervise and motivate subordinate personnel.

Ability to handle responsibility for more than 1000 vehicles.
