Fiber Optic Specialist/Lead Technician

Tri-Power Group, Inc., a leading wireless system integrator of infrastructure solutions for wireless communications networks, is currently seeking a Fiber Optic Lead Technician to join our Distributed Antennas Systems (DAS) team, based at our corporate headquarters in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities:

•Coordinate and assist in the installation of fiber optic DAS system projects including, but not limited to, planning, construction, activation, performance certification and as-built documentation.
•Perform optical system testing with OTDR's, Power Meter/Light Sources, and VFL’s. Use OTDR's to perform pre-installation (reel tests), test and document fiber splice loss for acceptable readings to meet customer specifications. Record and document all system readings for final test and acceptance documentation package.
•Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair fiber optic networks.
•Ensure the physical quality of all fiber optic facilities meet or exceed company standards.
•Contributes to the achievement of department goals by providing guidance, direct assistance and coordination.
REQUIREMENTS
•Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with fusion splicing, OTDR, power meters, light source, and Visual fault locating equipment.
•Must be able to read and interpret designs and drawings.
•Applicants must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
•Qualified candidates must be able to work with minimum supervision on an independent level.
•Ability to complete work within assigned time, meet project deadlines.
•Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with employees, customers, vendors and contractors to ensure a high level of efficiency and satisfaction.
•Must adhere to company safety policies and maintain an OSHA Safe Environment.


Additional Skills:

•Knowledge of BICSI standards.
•CFOT is a plus.
•Desktop Tool knowledge – MS Word, Excel and Visio.
