The Fiber Network Technician will be responsible for Tier 2 triage trouble reports, fault isolation, initiatingOutside Plant Technician dispatch when required and interacting with internal and external customers to resolve and close trouble reports for fiber based voice, data and video services. The Fiber Network Technician will also be responsible for evaluation & resolution of provisioning fallout for fiber based voice, data and video services.
Training:
•Classroom training required throughout the course of the job. Incumbents will be required to pass each training course.
These are full-time, regular positions with an excellent benefits package. The wage range for this position is $464.00/week to $1166.00/week. Wage credit may be given based on recent work experience,education and training. REQUIREMENTS
•The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of PC component and ability to work on the equipment while sending/receiving data. In addition, they must have working knowledge of communication LAN/WAN networking components (i.e., PCs, Routers, Multiplexers, Bridges, Switches etc.)•The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with customers. Responsible for talking and negotiating with customers as well as interacting with other work groups. They will also have the ability to perform more than one function at a time while communicating with internal and/or external customer.•The successful candidate must have considerable knowledge of ATM and TCP/IP.
•The successful candidate will be required to utilize a headset and sit at a workstation for extended periods, while working at a computer terminal assisting internal and external customers as well as be willing to work regularly scheduled tours including day, evening, night, weekend and holiday tours to facilitate 24x7 coverage in the center. Overtime may be required.
