Auxilliary Plant Operator (APO)

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: OperationsResponsibilities: Job Purpose
As an Auxiliary Plant Operator (APO) GE O&M (Operations & Maintenance), you will be responsible for safe, efficient operation of the plant under the direction of the Control Room Operator.Essential Functions
Perform routine inspections and tests to ensure plant are operating at optimal level.
Monitor and maintain all required data logs/records outside of the control room.
Maintains log of meter and gauge reading and records data such as water test results and quantity of fuel consumed.
Comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies.
Assist in plant shutdown and startup procedures
Operates all plant equipment/systems within scope of responsibility.
Assist and performs routine maintenance of basic plant equipment.
Aggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of three years of power plant or chemical plant experience.Desired: Desired Characteristics
Minimum of one year prior experience with pump, valve or turbine repairs.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical and process drawings.
Minimum of two years of Gas Turbine Experience.
Strongly desire basic computer skills to include working knowledge of MS Office Products including email.
NJ State Blue Seal Boiler License.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to stand/walk for up to 12 hours continuously
Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
