Airship Assembly and Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose:
To be hands-on and overall supervisor of all activities related to component and final assembly of all Blackwater airships. Works closely with the Director of Maintenance and Quality Assurance and the Director of Engineering in ensuring that all ground testing, initial assembly and follow-on maintenance activities related to airships are accomplished effectively and in a timely manner. A key team leader who will supervise all technicians hired to accomplish test, assembly and maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions:
•Assist Dir of Maintenance on all maintenance and technical support work
•Assist Dir of Engineering in development and manufacture of ground test rigs
•Assist airship engineering team in testing of airship systems and components
•Able to use precision measuring tools and be proficient in using hand tools
•Have experience in the following disciplines:
oLine maintenance, conducting inspections and replacing components
oRepair and maintenance of reciprocating engines and fuel systems
oRepair and maintenance of hydraulic systems
oAssembly and repair of sheet metal and composite structures
oRepair and maintenance of aircraft accessories
oAbility to troubleshoot and rectify electrical and avionics faults
oExperience with welding (TIG, MIG and ARC)
•Supervise assembly of remotely piloted airship vehicle (RPAV) components
•Accomplish refurbishment and rework of RPAV components
•Develop worksheets for the Blackwater RPAV assembly program
•Supervise all aspects of the final assembly and flight readiness of the RPAV
•Develop and keep current maintenance and support documentation on all components
•Performs other duties as assigned or required
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma and minimum of 5 years aviation industry experience (lighter-than-air preferred) is required with ability to read engineering drawings and have working knowledge of aviation repair and maintenance disciplines. Must have a minimum of one years experience as a supervisor of individuals engaged in aviation maintenance, test and assembly activities. Must have an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.

May be required to work in various environments, including outdoors and exposed to heat and cold, humidity, rain and other elements. Some travel may be required to support airships wherever located and when maintenance is required.

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, running, climbing, squatting, and kneeling, including standing or sitting for long time periods. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects or tools, and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision required includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus; must be able to hear or hear with the use of prosthetics.
