APPLICATION TECHNICIAN

The Application Technician in the customer engineering group utilizes the principles and theories of science, engineering, mathematics, along with practical knowledge/experience. The individual in this position will be charged with providing technical information and expertise to external and internal customers, including industrial customers, field sales force, service engineering, training, marketing, manufacturing, etc. Working closely with experienced application engineers, an application technician carries out technical support functions which are more limited in scope and more task/application oriented to help the department better serve and support our customers, measurable through efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation. The application will attend a technical training program to build an understanding of the full product line, engineering practices/systems/processes, and the commercial issues required to support assigned front end or market segment.



More specific tasks would include:


Complete technical tasks generally related to a single customer, application or product.


Perform bearing systems analysis, basic bearing selection, L10 life, calculate new fitting practice, review basic application details, conduct part interchanges/dimensional queries, review customer prints for accuracy and consistency, process quality policy documentation, create inputs to engineering work system processes, general 2D drawing, provide support for customer service.


Perform typical damage investigations or coordinates efforts to handle more complicated damage analysis requests, and assists with gathering of information for reporting.


Complete multiple technical assignments/tasks (more than two at a time) of a moderate complexity.


Support the overall selling process, with the majority of effort being internal.


Assists with the development of new analysis software via testing and feedback.


Performs industry or technology related research. REQUIREMENTS



Qualified candidates will have:
An associate's degree in mechanical engineering technology.
Work experience within the mechanical technology field and/or manufacturing is preferred.
Candidates must be proficient Microsoft Word and Excel as well as CAD.
Willingness to work in a team environment which could involve different cultures is required.
