Classified Ventures, LLC, based in Chicago, is a strategic joint-venture among six large media partners whose objectives are to collectively capitalize on the revenue growth in the online classified advertising categories of automotive, apartments, and real estate. Cars.com is the fastest-growing automotive marketplace for buyers, dealers and private-party sellers, placing nearly 11,000 dealers alongside nationwide advertising and private-party listings to offer access to both new and used automobiles. We are currently seeking Web Designer for our Chicago Headquarters. Come join our rapidly growing team!

Major Responsibilities/Project:

Cars.com, a top-tier online destination for automobile shoppers, researchers and sellers, seeks a full-time, experienced Web Designer.

Cars.com designers work closely with the art director, editorial producers and product managers to create wireframes and mockups for individual pages and packages as well as to establish guidelines for web-based applications. Designers are also responsible for collaborating with technical producers to polish templates and establish style sheet implementation.

Cars.com design candidates should be proficient in the standard tools of the trade including Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks. Ability to hand-code HTML and CSS is a plus.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills are a must, as is the ability to juggle a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates should be comfortable documenting and maintaining visual standards for the design group.

Candidates should be self-motivated, resourceful and able to meet critical deadlines while maintaining high quality work.

Candidates should have an exceptional portfolio of professional work that demonstrates versatility, style, and a solid grasp of visual hierarchies. Portfolio of work should also illustrate an understanding of user-centered design and navigation structures. Portfolios must be provided in PDF or URL-linked format for consideration.
REQUIREMENTS
Web Designer

Qualifications:
Must have a solid Portfolio of experience, and be able to submit work samples with resume.
Candidates that do not submit work samples, will not be considered.
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or equivalent
Minimum 7 years professional design experience, with at least 5 years designing for the web
Experience designing dynamic, templated web sites
Must have strong portfolio of previous work
Previous experience documenting and maintaining visual standards preferred
Outstanding design skills
Expert in online content presentation and information design
Strong typographic and conceptual skills
In-depth knowledge of best practices in user experience and usability
Excellent multi-tasking and the ability to set priorities and readjust as needed
XHTML and CSS expert committed to standards based web design
Self-starter with a can-do attitude and the ability to produce A-level work with a minimum of supervision
