As a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for basic run-the-engine tasks in an IBM AIX environment, software installations, upgrades and license verifications, fault detection, escalation and repair, assisting developers with code rollout and operational troubleshooting, performance metrics collection, analysis, and actions related to the analysis, planning upgrades, maintenance, tech refreshes, migrations, and/or consolidations across the environment, defining opportunities to increase operational efficiency and acting on those opportunities, and overall system availability. You will also be responsible for compliance with all company security, audit, and change management policies and procedures. You must also carry an on-call pager in 7x24 team rotation and manage all issues that arise during period of on-call responsibility to resolution. You must be able to interface with multiple leadership levels, including first-line technical and business managers through senior officers. You must also be able to clearly communicate on the telephone and in writing. Occasional travel is required (1-5 consecutive days) for training or disaster recovery exercises.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must be proficient with most aspects of UNIX systems administration including: systems installation and configuration, troubleshooting, configuration and management of printing systems, configuration and management of mail systems, security management, planning and installation of third party software, backups and restores. Candidate must be able to plan and execute new systems deployments and OS and microcode upgrades across the environment. Candidate must have a solid understanding of the AIX operating system (and clusters a plus) including paging and swapping, interprocess communication, devices and device driver functionality, file system concepts and be able to implement new filesystems or add to existing ones. Candidate must be able to use operating system security tools to implement corporate security policies. Candidate must be able to collect and analyze system performance data to either solve specific problems or plan for future operations. Candidate must possess knowledge of LPARS for AIX and IBM Workload Manager. Skillset with HACMP and TSM/HSM are a plus. Candidate must have the ability to write scripts in some administrative language (perl, ksh, or csh). A full understanding of Enterprise Management principles and operations is necessary. The ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs and/or Oracle and SQL scripts is also desirable. A four-year college degree with at least 7 years relevant experience is required. The ability to clearly speak and write the English language is also necessary.
