UNIX Administrator, Senior (1809)

The Senior UNIX Administrator provides technical and operational support in a heterogeneous UNIX environment. Installs, supports, maintains, monitors, tests, documents and tunes operating system software.


Key Responsibilities

Audit UNIX server metrics and proactively develop resolutions to performance issues.
Architect and build faulttolerant UNIX environments.
Responsible for Portal and Web Applications server administration.
Administer hard drive space using Veritas tools.
Develop scope, costs, ROI and objectives for projects while being responsible for finishing all projects on time and with in budget.
Evaluate new products/technologies to determine applicability and impact on existing systems.
Conduct the installation, setup and administration of development and production backups for both Windows 2000/NT, Linux and Solaris using Veritas Netbackup.
Manage all user accounts in UNIX.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience is required
Server based certifications (ie.MCSE, Redhat, Solaris 2.6+) are preferred
4 to 6 years related experience in enterprise UNIX administration (Solaris or Linux preferred), Veritas Volume Manager and NetBackup, Storage Area Network management (Hitachi or EMC preferred), Linux clustering experience and Networking experience (Cisco routers, switches and hubs).
Experience with crossplatform authentication and identity management technologies (LDAP, Kerberos, X509 Certificates).
Knowledge in development, Oracle databases, Oracle Forms and PL/SQL, Portal/Web applications (IBM Websphere, BEA Weblogic), Windows 2000 is preferred.
Project Management skills, experience mentoring or leading others including assigning work and training employees.
Strong written and oral communication skills
