Coordinates the technical design, development, implementation, and administration of UNIX and LINUX-based computer systems and SAN-based storage appropriate to meet the business needs of Pella Corporation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned.Responsible for the operation and up-time of enterprise level UNIX and LINUX-based servers and SAN-based storage, including general systems administration, configuration and patching of operating systems and packaged software, management of the Storage Area Network (SAN), and development of backup and recovery procedures. Responsible for collecting and analyzing system metrics for capacity planning purposes and for implementing proactive monitoring procedures and automated alerts to minimize disruptions of critical business applications.Responsible for the timely resolution of system issues and the coordination of internal and vendor resources in restoring normal system functionality and identifying and correcting root causes. Provides on-call and after-hour systems support as scheduled by management.Assists with the conceptual system design, hardware selection, and cost justification of proposed application systems and upgrades, with primary responsibility for the technical specification and configuration of UNIX and LINUX-based servers and SAN-based storage. To accomplish this, analyzes the User's needs, gathers statistics and data, develops recommendations, and provides this information to the project leader and IT Management.Assists with the deployment and integration of new application systems and system upgrades into our existing networking and computing environment, with primary responsibility for the installation and configuration of UNIX and LINUX-based servers, system software, and SAN-based storage, Responsible for preparing and adhering to the project schedules for himself/herself and assigned personnel.Provides consulting and support to the application development teams as they design, develop, and implement changes to existing application systems. Needs to be able to work with all functional areas within the company, its branches and vendors to understand their systems needs and assist them in resolving issues as needed.Responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and administration of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position.Responsible for keeping up to date on technology changes within the profession and for informing other staff on new techniques and technology changes. Assists in the training of new I.T. staffMay serve as back up or perform other tasks for other members on the team.Supervisory Responsibilities:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in computer-related field from a four-year college or university and five or more years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, and maintain system documentation. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Abilitiy:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Computer Skills:Needs demonstrated computer skills in configuring and administering UNIX and/or LINUX-based systems and fiber-based storage area networks. While not required, specific experience with High Availability clusters in an HPUX and EMC-based environment would be preferred. Should have general skills in Word and Excel, and experience with one or more UNIX-based scripting languages such as C or PERL.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:None required, but HPUX and/or EMC professional certification would be an advantage.Physical Demands:
