UDB DB2 Database Administrator

Purpose: Our client, a leader in their industry is immediately seeking a Senior UDB DB2 Database Administrator for their 3-6 month contract position with possible extension in Birmingham, AL.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

1) Must have 3 years of total DBA experience with IBM DB2 UDB version 8 on the Windows 2000 or 2003 Server platform. 64bit version experience a plus but not required.

2) Must have performance tuning experience on DB2 UDB on Windows. Our DB2 databases perform 1 billion updates, inserts, and deletes (UIDs) per month (379second)

3) Must have experience creating and optimizing maintenance schedules for these online utilities; REORG, RUNSTATS, SNAPSHOT, and BACKUP.

4) Must have experience using DB2 UDB SQL Replication; all our UID traffic originates from six Apply processes and one Capture process.

5) SQL Server 2005 DBA experience is a plus but is not a requirement.

6) zOS DB2 experience is a plus but is not a requirement.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for normal DB2 DBA functions including performance tuning, optimization, replication, back-up and recovery etc. All work will be performed on-site during a 40 hour work week. Candidates local to the Southeast are highly encouraged to apply!
