Tivoli Storage Manager Senior Administrator

Performs analytical, technical, and administrative work involved in planning, installing, and maintaining the TSM backup and recovery environment. Key responsibilities include managing the day to day TSM Server operations, coordinating backup schedules, performing system restores, working with Operations to manage the shared tape library infrastructure and tape inventory, and participating in disaster recovery planning and exercises. The TSM Administrator provides guidance and input for project teams in relation to backup and recovery capabilities as well as scheduling. This position also includes after hours on call responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Forecasting TSM infrastructure capacity needs. Developing and maintaining thorough documentation on all TSM functions and backup jobs. Functioning under general supervision, and provides cross-training and mentoring to other team members. Providing upward, downward, and lateral communication regarding the status of backups and the TSM environment. Prioritizing work based on departmental priorities and system criticality. Performing complex analysis. Producing definition and design of specifications. Proactively identifing problems and makes recommendations regarding solutions. Providing Unix Systems Administration support for TSM servers including performance monitoring, capacity management, account administration, patch management, security and audit compliance TSM System Administration knowledge and hands on skills. TSM Tivoli Data Protection agents. TSM Operational Reporting including report generation and automation. Administration of AIX 4.x through 5.3. Oracle RMAN and its interaction with TSM TDP for Oracle. Familiar with IBM 3494 & 3584 libraries, and 3590, 3592 and LTO/2 tape drives. Familiar with SAN networking and IBM storage solutions. Storage agent configuration. San alternate pathing configuration. Skilled in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them and presenting/selling them to management. Strong service oriented customer focus with ability to manage client expectations. Ability to changes direction quickly when needed.
