Technology Manager
DESCRIPTIONS:Under the supervision of the Director of the Multimedia Program,
the Technology Manager manages the technology assets of The College of Media and
Communication (web servers, streaming server, Audio/Video specialty studios, etc.) at
The University of the Arts in order to support the academic and promotional needs of the
college. The position entails managing the college’s current technology; planning for
future needs and growth; and developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, supervising a
small part-time staff, and supporting student work and faculty activities. The Technology Manager also works with other University technology departments (Academic Computing, Administrative Computing, and Network Services) as well as external vendors to facilitate the college’s mission.
TECHNOLOGYCMAC houses a number of production and post-production facilities (MIDI Studio and recording.
CAPACITY:Facilities utilizing a variety of operating systems, along with a wide-range of industry-standard software) to edit sound and video and produce interactive websites, animations, and electronic and experimental music. The College sponsors several websites and is heavily invested in the third year of its streaming media initiative. The CMAC equipment office provides both students and faculty access to a variety of equipment for off-campus work and productions. (For more information about

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Manage the technology needs of the College, including planning, trend spotting, budgeting
and support for the college’s teaching programs in Multimedia, WFTV and Communication.
•Support student instruction in the use of digital video and audio production, post-production, digital equipment and Internet development.
•Consult with other internal technology departments and external vendors.
•Communicate with the Directors and Dean of the College.
•Manage and administer web development for the College.
•Hands-on development of one or more of the college technological initiatives as
•needed.
•Manage, maintain, and design the College’s technology assets (Equipment Office, Apple/Quicktime Servers, LAMP Servers, and Production Studios).
•Represent the College on University committees.
•Manage and hire work-study students, part-time and contract workers.
•Work with faculty in the assessment, selection, and purchase of new equipment, as well as support them in their teaching and professional work.
•Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); presentation skills, and attention to detail; ability to work independently, problem solve, plan and manage others; experience with budgets and purchasing technology; experience with video/audio equipment and programming/web design/server management; previous administrative or supervisory experience; experience working in college/university; proficiency in Computer Science or web development or digital video and/or audio production and post-production; (Experience with all four is a plus); experience with Mac and PC Platforms; experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), ColdFusion, command line/terminal, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS. Knowledge of web standards.
