Technical Writer
Job Description:
Create and maintain high quality user and administrative guides and help systems for web site creation and content management products.
Responsibilities:
Research and write user guides and help systems for web-based content management software.
Plan and manage documentation projects.
Work independently, within tight deadlines.
Install, configure, and test new products during development phase, and provide feedback to developers on features, functionality, and usability.
Work closely with staff in development, QA, technical support, marketing, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related work experience.
Excellent writing and editing skills, typography and the principles of graphic design and layout. Indexing skills a plus.
Experience with standard documentation authoring tools (FrameMaker, WebWorks, Adobe Acrobat, and graphics software).
Experience writing installation guides, reference guides, help systems, etc., in a single-source format (creating PDF and Help output).
Experience with web site development and web development standards (HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, database-driven pages, HTML/script editors, etc.) highly desired.
Experience and excitement for web development.
Localization experience is a plus.
Familiarity with IIS, Windows system configuration, and/or UNIX is a plus.
Background in Quality Assurance is a plus.
Entrepreneurial attitude, technical aptitude, persistency, and attention to detail a must.
