Technical Publication Specialist

Purpose: Position Scope: Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard technical publication techniques and procedures to assigned publications projects. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard drafting and modeling techniques and procedures to assigned drafting projects. Makes minor adaptations and modifications to assignments. Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Exhibits professional integrity and confidentiality to all job aspects.

Strong and diverse drafting/CAD, graphics and publication skills, detail oriented, organized, and shows initiative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Is responsible for conventional plans, investigations, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
Is instructed on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions. Receives assistance on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of sound judgment. Examples of possible specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Creates technical publications from red-lines, sketches, layouts/CAD models, machines, written and verbal instructions.
-Creates complete publications and associated document packages.
-Performs publication revisions per red-lines, sketches, EC descriptions, written and verbal instructions
-Creates component or assembly drawings from red-lines, sketches, layouts/CAD models, parts, written and verbal instruction.
-Creates complete drawings and associated document packages.
-Performs drawing revisions per red-lines, sketches, EC descriptions, written and verbal instructions.
-Checks drawings, publications, and documents of peers.
-Coordinates work with others assisting with specific assignments.
-May be required to coordinate the work of others.

Education:
-One-year drafting/CAD certificate, or equivalent with 3-5 years progressive drafting, graphics and publication experience, or an Associate Degree in Drafting or Design Technology with one or more years experience required.
-Experience with ACAD and graphics programs required.
-Experience and advanced training with MS Word required.
-Experience with Pro-E desirable.
-LANGUAGE SKILLS ? Communicates in technical English, both written and verbal.
-MATHMATICAL SKILLS ? As required for completion of High School diploma or equivalent.
-REASONING ABILITY ? Demonstrates the ability to solve problems using deductive and intuitive reasoning skills.
