Systems engineer/Network Administrator

Technical Environment: Client server environment mostly utilizing Windows, but integrating some MAC OSX users who pull data from a MAC file server and also from Windows based servers through Apple Filesharing.

Position: Network Administrator -

Job Description: This position is a System Admin with some Network Admin and Desktop Support responsibilities. Responsible for management of infrastructure including hardware and software inventories, software licensing and usage, updates and version management. Responsibilities include configuration, support and troubleshooting for Windows 2000, XP and MAC OSX local users and remote support for users based in satellite or home offices. Day-to-day tasks will include setup and configuration of new user workstations, managing user accounts in Active Directory, monitoring performance of servers and server applications, and resolving daily trouble tickets. Server management including O/S updates, security patches, and preventative maintenance will be required. Network based services used include Windows 2000/2003 Server, Exchange 2003, Symantec Backup Exec, and Trend Micro Antivirus. PC-based applications used include Microsoft Office XP/2003, MS Project 2003, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD,

Technical skills essential for this assignment: (Prioritize importance most to least) Thorough knowledge of Windows 2000/XP operating system. Competent understanding of TCP/IP networking and services (DHCP, DNS, WINS). Demonstrable knowledge and experience with Windows 2000/2003 Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server. Experience with MAC OSX in a predominantly Windows environment. Experience assisting remote users in a Helpdesk environment. Minimum of 3 years experience troubleshooting computer hardware and OS issues.
Pluses: MCSE and/or BS degree preferred but not absolutely necessary.
