Systems Operator - 3rd Shift

For more information, go to www.brunswick.com/boats.htmlAccountability Statement:The Systems Operator - Second Shift is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of information in and through all computer systems. The primary responsibility is the daily backups of the computer systems. Data Center operations are critical to the competitive edge held by the company. Dependability and efficiency are two vital characteristics of this position.Responsibilities:1. Ensure that daily backups are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Ensure that all daily and day-end processing completes normally.
3. Provide support to any users working on the system after 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
This primarily includes the Phoenix operation.
4. Print and distribute reports as required.
5. Ensure that backup tapes are properly labeled and stored.
6. Maintain the physical security of the data center.
7. Work without direct supervision.
8. Recognize and identify potential areas where policies and procedures require change,
or where new ones need to be developed, and report them to the appropriate manager.
9. Learn the job responsibilities and functions of the Operations Analyst, so that within
twelve months, promotion to this position is possible. Temporary promotion may be
required due to extended illness or personal emergency; it is the responsibility of the
Systems Operator - Second Shift to be prepared for temporary promotion at any time.
10. Follow all company and departmental policies and procedures.
11. Report problems to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
12. Ensure a smooth transition of all work from the first shift Operations Analyst.
13. Perform at or above Information Systems performance standards.Reporting Responsibilities:This position reports to the Director of Technical Services.Hours: Monday through Friday 11:00 PM until 8:00 AM(or until backups are completed)
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:1. Associate degree or undergraduate degree in business administration or information system preferred.
2. One to two years data processing experience.
3. Knowledge of the systems currently in use - IBM AS/400; Windows NT servers; Microsoft products.
