Systems Manager - Applications
Scope of Responsibilities
Provides a leadership role in system analysis assignments, including detailed project plans, user interviews, business requirement definition, research of manual and automated systems, and alternative analysis and recommendations associated with the development, testing and implementation of systems.
Manages and plans the activities of assigned staff in design, development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems which provide efficiency and competitive advantage for the company.
Communicates and coordinates systems activities with user departments, other Information Systems organizational components, company customers, and other outside services and customers to ensure systems compatibility, cross-department information needs are met, and all levels of management are provided with timely information as to project status.
Ensures all systems conform to departmental standards. Where systems are deficient, creates plans and implements changes to bring systems into conformance. Provides direction for the development of flexible, integrated, easily-maintained, and operationally-effective and efficient systems.
Develops and maintains an effective team/organization. Identifies staffing needs, hires, fires, promotes, reviews. Ensures all associates have yearly objectives and development goals, including specific education plans, and provide management for staff.
Maintains current hardware and software technology expertise in areas of responsibility. Keeps current on new development technologies and staff productivity tools including computer-aided software engineering tools. Participates in and leads Information Systems special projects to improve the quality and efficiency of systems development and support.
Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the operations of the user's business area assigned to ensure the systems plan complements the operating plan of the user area, and that individual systems are effectively supporting the business.
Ensures all assigned projects follow the department systems development methodology and that each has a published project work plan that is maintained and reported against. Ensures systems development and maintenance expenditures in area of responsibility are within budget and development and maintenance projects are on schedule.
Serves as leader and effective change agent within the organization.
