Systems Analyst I

Uses substantial knowledge of computer systems, relational databases, and interfacing systems to make recommendations about proposed or modified IT systems to management, IT technical staff, and/or various Business Areas within the Company. Recommendations are used to clarify objectives and propose improvements to current and future IT systems and/or system capabilities that affect the way the Company conducts business, and/or interactions with external customers. Analyzes and produces technical documentation to describe program development logic, coding, and modifications.

This professional job family requires incumbents to have a College degree or significant experience (typically at least 5 years) as an individual contributor in a professional information technology role (typically as a Programmer, Software Developer, or Software Engineer). Incumbents should also have skills/competencies necessary to interpret, extract, and manipulate technical computer systems data (typically code or systems logic) from technical sources, proactively identify and forecast technical trends, and develop and present various solutions and recommendations. Able to effectively communicate and translate recommendations to various audiences including architects, developers, management, and business customers. Tracks computer systems industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the organization's goals.

This is a great opportunity to get join an agile development team to work on the largest project at Progressive that offers challenges and interaction with multiple teams. You would be working as part of a PolicyPro team that develops transactions that process changes to policies. The team mainly interacts with the PolicyPro User Interface, F2, SBR and POWR teams/systems. The ideal person for this position is one who thrives in a highly interactive environment and enjoys the challenge of drilling down into the details with the business partners to develop the requirements to satisfy different scenarios. In the PolicyPro agile process, the SA (Systems Analyst) works with the Business Team to create Story Cards and requirements for an upcoming release and works with the Development Team as they estimate the effort of the Story Cards. The SA also answers developer questions during the development process and ensures the Business intent of each card is achieved.
Additional requirements:
Involved in the functional and technical design of the system to ensure that the solution meets the business requirements.
Provide consultative system guidance to the customers and external teams in the application of systems analysis to business problems. Interact with our Business Customer/Partners, Developers, Analysts and QA teams to assist in test plan development. Is a key contact between IT and business partners. Develop an understanding of business needs for project and future directions. Identifies, assesses & documents needs, recommend priorities, advises on options/risks
Build strong working relationships w/team members & all appropriate IT/business functions.
