System Administrator, Linux

An enterprise level position, the Systems Administrator will focus on Linux/UNIX technologies from an installation, configuration, administration, and security perspective. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and supporting a UNIX infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

* Writing purchase justifications, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management.
* Solving problems independently and self-direction.
* Administering most aspects of an operating system; for example, configuration of mail systems, system installation and configuration, printer systems, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software.
* Understanding the UNIX-based operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions).
* Understanding the fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; configuring NFS and NIS, NT domains; using nslookup or digging to check information in the DNS; understanding the basic routing concepts.
* Configuring web server applications such as Apache and Tomcat.
* Supporting and configuring various Open Source applications such as Postfix, IP Tables, ProFTPD, VSFTPD, Squid, LDAP and BIND.
* Supporting enterprise databases on UNIX, and has had experience with Storage Area Networks.
REQUIREMENTS
* B.S. degree or equivalent work experience
* 3+ years experience in medium to large Linux/UNIX environment and system administration
* 2+ years experience with web-standard technologies such as Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, SSL encryption and digital certificates.
* 2+ years experience with Perl, HTML, ASP, PHP, or similar web-related programming and scripting languages.
* 2+ years experience with installation and administration of a Linux Operating System, preferably Red Hat. Similar experience with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 would be beneficial, but not required.
* Experience with web clustering, load balancing and High Availability technologies
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to effectively manage multi-task operations/projects, priorities, and deadlines.
