System Administrator II (UNIX/NMS)

Responsibilities: This person will be responsible for administering enterprise-wide Network Management Systems (NMS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases. This includes support of IBM/Micromuse suite of products, Web Methods and other network management related responsibilities. This person will administer applications supporting all Charter Divisions. This person will contribute to the Company vision of being the industry leader in customer service through quality, commitment, courtesy and teamwork; install, administer, configure and maintain NMS including operating systems and related software; and provide on call support to resolve NMS issues after normal business hours. This person will use established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window); work with database administrators to configure, tune and maintain databases in variety of languages; and document systems configurations and upgrades. This person will assist in the design of support change and control policies and disaster recovery plans, troubleshoot networking and operating systems problems; and monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources. This person will work with current templates and assist with the design and construct new templates, work with deployment and core service engineers to determine needs, and set up filters on data generated by monitors.
