Support Analyst- Fixed Income Rates & Currencies GSD Ops

Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.The UBS Investment Bank based in Stamford, Connecticut is seeking a Support Analyst to work as a key member on the FIRC (Fixed Income Rates & Currencies) GSD Ops team. The FIRC Global Service Delivery Ops team is responsible for the support and maintenance of applications. This team is responsible for numerous Interest Rate and Equity Derivatives Operations applications. The key systems supported are developed by the internal Development Teams (and in limited cases by third-party vendors). The applications allow for the settlement and confirmation of trades with connectivity to several up-stream and downstream systems.The GSD team as a whole provides integrated support of proprietary technology, including the configuring and troubleshooting of desktop applications, Unix/Linux, Oracle and Sybase process management and Consulting/Special projects in liaison with Business Managers. The GSD team comprises of Business Technology Management team (first-level support focusing on initial business process analysis and client-facing), the Application Management team (second-level support focusing on application availability and monitoring) and the Project Management team (third-level support focusing on release and application efficiencies management). All 3 teams work closely together as one GSD team to provide seamless support to the user group. The primary user group is based OTC Operations, but the team also supports users in other areas of the Bank including the trading floor, Credit, Legal, etc. The GSD team is a global team with team members based in London, Stamford, Hong Kong and Singapore. The development team is based in London and Bangalore. This role itself is a team leader and project manager role utilising both BTM and PTM skills. Therefore, a high degree of technical awareness of Unix/Linux, Oracle and would be highly desirable for this role.Responsibilities include: Manage and lead the regional team of 2 onsite individuals and provide guidance to 2 offshore resources. Act as the main point of contact regionally for escalation and project initiatives. Use project management skills to coordinate and delegate tasks and to provide global GSD coverage during key deliverables and major releases. Use technical, analytical and application expertise to resolve issues and ensure issues are addressed by the team in a timely manner within Service Level Agreement targets. Ensure problem resolutions and team procedures are regularly updated and readily accessible via the shared knowledgebase system (this is particularly important as the majority of the team is based in London and are not available during Stamford afternoons). Build and maintain client relationships with key business managers, development team leads, infrastructure support teams and other GSD teams. Fully understand the time sensitive nature and business requirements of the OTC Operations settlements and confirmations processes. Manage service level expectations by assessing impact and providing clear communication and concise reporting to the user community. Identify patterns and trends effecting quality of service and proactively seek ways to provide better service and continuous improvement Be able to challenge and motivate team members in providing a high level of service. Contribute to recruitment, coaching and induction of new team members. Control risks and costs within our own area (e.g. by using time and resources cost effectively; by upholding Bank standards for source control; adhering to application security practices, adhering to change management practices, etc). Improve skills by attending a combination of business and technical classes annually. Follow internal UBS policies and procedures .Preferred Qualifications:Strong knowledge of Unix and Linux OS. Knowledge and experience working in RDBMS preferably both Oracle and Sybase. Knowledge and exposure to Networking, Storage and Hardware. Experience with scripting languages e.g. Csh, Perl. Excellent English verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Problem solving and process understanding capabilities. Ability to take ownership of issues from conception to resolution. Time management skills and attention to detail. REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:A university Degree preferably in Computer Science or IT related field and or equivalent work experience is required.
A minimum of 2 years experience working in a production support environment, dealing with time sensitive applications.
