Strategy Manager
Job Title: Strategy Mgr Location: Dayton Reference: 117510 SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The role of the Corporate Strategy group is to structure projects, provide analytical & research support, coordinate with other organizational groups (internal/external), and provide well-articulated conclusions and recommendations. As a member of the Corporate Strategy team, the Strategy Manager will work within a team to perform market research, competitive benchmarking, identify competitive responses, develop and/or deliver strategic industry analyses, prepare final reports and/or recommendations, and make frequent presentations to executive/senior management. The position will involve active participation in both large and small strategic evaluations and assignments (i.e., enterprise-wide or corporate priority impact) and contribute to strategy methodology & business development approaches. Additionally, the selected candidate is expected to think across the entire portfolio of NCRs businesses in order to propose and analyze strategic decisions spanning multiple business units, divisions, and/or product portfolios. A growing expertise will help the incumbent visualize emerging opportunities, anticipate competitive threats, and develop appropriate business plans and/or responses. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
Four year college degree and MBA
MBA or related graduate level degree; with a concentration in Finance, Organizational Research, or Economics
Five (5) years compatible experience; with at least one to two (2) years relevant consulting experience within a consulting firm
Strong skills in strategic and quantitative analysis, project management, negotiation, communication and leadership; including demonstrated experience to structure and disaggregate problems, identify key value drivers, and quickly model complex issues
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, with the ability to indirectly influence and lead cross-BU and/or cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver conclusion-oriented discussion documents
Effective resource management; excellent project management capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years relevant strategy consulting experience; ideally? with a consultancy background and/or in-house corporate strategy role (within a top tier management consulting firm or blue chip corporate organization)
? Work experience encompassing areas such as change management, operational strategy, business process re-engineering, project/engagement management, gap analysis, cost-reduction, etc.
Outstanding academic achievement and? demonstrated track record of success in prior work experience
Functional Accountabilities:
Investigate, analyze and make recommendations to Senior Management on current strategic or operational issues, to include the annual Strategic Plan development efforts
Serve as an internal consultant, establish strong partnerships, and provide leadership, analytical & financial skills to NCRs business units, as required to support the overall corporate and/or business unit strategy
Lead and/or facilitate the strategy update and/or business plan review process for the business units; including assistance in the creation of the business units annual strategic operating plans, prioritization of initiatives, and driving alignment between business units and corporate strategy
Conduct and/or develop innovative modeling capabilities and analyses (market segmentation; organizational lifecycle models; etc.) to provide superior understanding of customers and targeted prospects; allowing for optimization of revenue opportunity from initiation and/or evolution of customer and targeted prospect relationships
Works closely with Corporate Mergers & Acquisition by performing market research, competitive benchmarking, and strategic analysis/assessment of new and/or existing business opportunities
Translate research and analysis into highly effective recommendations; with accompanying sales decks, presentations, and documentation
Develop, assess, and/or analyze current and future performance benchmarks, Key Performance Indicators, and economic impacts to the business; identify "best practice" areas of opportunity contributing to sustainable growth strategies for the company, business units, and divisions
Attend and gather insights from industry conferences and trade shows in order to identify emerging industry and consumer trends

Ability to rapidly gather, create/structure actionable information, and develop/present data analysis and recommendations; including the ability to model and structure analysis to support targeted and/or alternative directions and/or actions

Ability to identify/define business questions and issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct the analysis

Strong computer skills with windows based software including a mastery of Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
