Sr. Unix Systems Administrator
The Unix Systems Administrators are responsible for the following:
-Performs software installations and upgrades to Unix operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
-Act as POC with IT staff and vendors regarding technical issues, complex testing, or troubleshooting issues; respond to and document troubleshooting status in trouble ticket system
-Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance.
-Ensures Unix server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
-Conducts routine hardware and software audits of Unix servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines.
-Mentor other members of the group
-Document procedures to administer and patch managed systems
-Implements tools and infrastructure upgrades
-Ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays
REQUIREMENTS
AIX, RedHat Enterprise Linux, IBM pSeries hardware, x86 hardware, Websphere, MQ Series, Performance tuning, HACMP, Storage technologies, TCP/IP networking
-Good understanding of J2EE application model (e.g., EJBs, JSP, HTTP sessions, servlets, etc.)
-Good understanding of J2EE 1.2 and J2EE 1.3 technologies (e.g., JDBC, JMS, JNDI, JTA, JAAS, etc.)
-Good understanding of HTTP server concepts
-Good system administration experience of operating systems (e.g., UNIX, Linux, Windows NT/2000, z/OS, OS/400, etc.)
-Good understanding of basic Internet concepts (e.g., firewalls, web browsers, TCP/IP, SSL, HTTP, etc.)
-Good understanding of standard markup languages such as XML and HTML
-Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation
-Experience working in a 24/7 enterprise environment
