Performs detailed and various database engineering design of new and existing products as a cooperative portion of a large project or independently within project requirements.

Activities may include analysis, system-level design, documentation, testing and the implementation of overall database products.

Activities are performed within broad fields of specialization and within assigned areas of responsibilities.

Working within a framework of broad objectives, exercises high levels of judgment in making substantial adaptations and modifications to diverse and broad standard techniques and procedures.

Within the scope of a project, initiates and implements problem-solving assignments; and independently evaluates, selects and adapts standard engineering techniques and procedures.

May routinely provide technical direction to several professionals through a mentor, supervisor or project leader role.

May be a representative of the group relative to technical issues.

Review of activities is usually limited to ensure correctness of direction and objective, or to consult on unusual problems.
REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's Degree in appropriate discipline or six years related experience plus four years of related exempt experience.

A fully functioning professional in one area of database with a sound understanding and demonstrated expertise in one or more others.
