Sr. Storage Administrator - Mainframe

Today, over 100 healthcare organizations are tapping into the expertise, equipment and round-the-clock computing services of the TSC's state-of-the-art hosting facility based in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. The TSC can host Eclipsys solutions, as well as applications from its strategic partners and other non-Eclipsys applications that complement Eclipsys solutions. The center can provide and maintain all aspects of an HCO's hosted IT infrastructure, including operating systems, database software, systems and database administration, continuous capacity planning and monitoring, and Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure.We are currently hiring a Senior Storage Administrator for our Mainframe group at the TSC. Ideal candidates should have experience monitoring and troubleshooting storage systems in a mainframe data center environment. Reporting to the Manager of Mainframe Systems, the Storage Administrator is responsible for all aspects of Enterprise Storage Administration; areas include planning and support, Mainframe DASD management, FICON directors, ESCON directors, Tivoli Storage Manager administration, DFSMS management, disaster recovery and offsite media management.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Storage server administration including setup of storage subsystem connectivity, ATL, security and supporting software.
Forecasts and allocates disk storage; Performs data backups and recoveries including scheduling of automated jobs through Production Control software (TWS).
Coordinate disk space planning and management; Maintains growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories.
Manage all mainframe storage disk/tape, ensuring backups are complete and off site processes are maintained.
Designs/implements backup recovery strategies for file systems and applications (including databases).
Assist in design and documentation of installation procedures, standards, and operational procedures. Some project management responsibility including assigning other employees to projects, delegation and follow up
*Proactively monitor and report on system performance, capacity, availability, and end user response time.
Assist internal users and IT departments with day-to-day troubleshooting, addressing storage system problems / issues, including 24 x 7 support.Required Knowledge and Experience
Possess knowledge of storage management principles and storage management techniques.
Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service are required.
Knowledge of mainframe storage management software such as DFSMS, DFSMShsm, DFSMSrmm, DFSMSdss, ICF, IDCAMS and ISMF.
Strong project methodology and process knowledge.
Strong commitment to task, strong decision/problem solving skills and the understanding of quality assurance and systems testing methodologies.
Strong experience with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM for backup, recovery, and archive), large disk arrays (configure, allocate, manage storage on high end disk arrays), Automated Tape Libraries, and Tape Management.Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
Must work well and professionally in a group environment
Proven communication skills both verbal and written
Sound diagnosis and analysis skills
1+ years experience in performance tuning, capacity planning of Large disk arrays
1+ years of ATL and tape technologies experience
2+ years experience with TSM as an administrator
2+ years experience with system administrationDesired Skills and Experience
External disk array & SAN experience with HDS Lightning, Virtualization, and ADSM / TSM a plus.
Prior work experience with large-scale networked enterprise environments preferred.
Technical knowledge of open systems (Unix/Windows) and storage concepts (LVM, quotas, fragmentation, etc) required.
Familiarity with storage technologies including SAN (Configuration, Zoning on Fiber Channel Switches, multipathing, load balancing, and Fiber Channel (Loop & Fabric). / gj-hh
