Sr. Software Developer

Purpose: TEKsystems has partnered with a large government integrator in search of a VB.Net developer with an active DOD secret clearance.

Job Description:

-Converting legacy VB6 code to VB.Net

Major Responsibilities:

- Responsible for design and development efforts for software extensions, alterations and new features for existing product lines and legacy systems.
- Responsible for application development and support efforts, and contributing towards a nimble and responsive application development organization.
- Use innovative problem solving and critical thinking approaches to proactively solve a broad range of problems across technologies.
- Provide analytical expertise for new requests, and for production issues/defects reported in our existing systems (e.g. trending and root causal analysis).

Minimum Requirements:
- Strong leadership and organization skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, interpersonal and team building skills.
- Ability to rapidly assimilate new technologies and be able to communicate effectively with various teams.
- Proven ability to drive projects with medium- to large scope and complexity.
- Demonstrated ability to systematically gather relevant information from different sources to address an issue and make a prompt and insightful decision.
- Experience in developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines and operating under tight time constraints
- Excellent interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving, organizational, issue resolution.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience in related field.
- 3 or more years of object oriented software design (OOD)
- 2 or more years experience working with .NET (VB or C#)
- IT II Position of Trust Clearance

Preferred Skills:
1+ years experience in the following areas:
- COM/DCOM
- Relational Database Development
- Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies
- Familiar with Continuous Integration Practices
- M.S. Computer Science
