As a company expert, the individual must have a solid understanding of database concepts, practices, procedures and technologies and experience in administering Oracle databases.
Individual must have a working and practical knowledge of Oracle database administration functions across development, testing, QA, production and business continuity environments. Perform ongoing database administration, maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning and troubleshooting for databases. Develop, maintain, perform, and test database backup and restore/recovery procedures. Perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations. Provide capacity planning for future databases and server growth. Administer and maintain database security policies and procedures. Proactively resolve database environment issues, assume ownership of database environments to ensure their ongoing availability and optimal performance. Support organization's configuration management and systems engineering procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Technical POC for integration requirements issues. Must have U.S.A Citizenship and willing to undergo background investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to confidential information.
Overall the person in this position is expected to demonstrate proficiency in database design, troubleshooting, leadership, and customer service.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor of Science degree in information systems, information technology,
computer science or related technical field.
• Ten to Fifteen years minimum experience of related Oracle database administration
and support experience.
• Professional training and/or certification using Oracle tools and technologies.
• Strong customer service orientation and problem solving and analytic skills.
• Knows and understand advanced product architecture/capabilities thoroughly in
area of expertise (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) and is an expert at backup and
restore/recovery, especially in crisis situations.
• Knows a lot about tuning the database and applications and knows advanced
replication and/or distribution methods and techniques.
Experience Required:
• With Oracle database 8i/10g, Forms and Reporter, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and
Oracle Application Server, SQL and PL/SQL are required.
• Running on Windows 2000/2003 operating systems and Dell SAN Storage Array environments is a plus.
• Working and practical knowledge of the Savantage COTS package is a plus.
• Developing, implementing, performing and monitoring data replication, backup and
restore/recovery policies and procedures to include exporting and importing of the database.
• Understanding and implementing advanced database concepts such as data replication and business continuity operations and knows when to apply them as part of the engineered solution.
• Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle Software on servers and client machines.
• Creating and configuring database instances and databases. This includes database creation/setup and tuning; redo logs and archiving, control files, PFILE and SPFILE management, primary database objects such as tables, views, sequences, triggers,
and indexes etc.).
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database to ensure that database resources such as tablespaces, memory configuration, sessions, archive files, etc. are in their proper status.
• Creating user accounts and appropriate privileges as well as maintaining database security.
• Writing SQL and PLSQL stored procedures and scripts to access data in Oracle.
