Sr. IT Production Support Engineer

Purpose: A leading software development company in the greater Milwaukee area is looking for a Senior IT Production Support Engineer to join their team.

This position is responsible for product implementation, configuration changes, application support & maintenance, and troubleshooting to meet the needs of our production application(s). This position will be the lead of two IT Product Support Engineer individuals reporting to him/her.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:
Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines for Production support:
-Installs upgrades and configures software and database systems as required by clients. (occasional 2nd shift work, on call)
-Responds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access to the production software environments
-Work closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC) staff to monitor, correct, report and document all production errors.
-Works with Development and SQA to obtain software and coordinate testing.
-Analyzes existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operations or to identify difficulties, and revises the logic and procedures involved as necessary.
-Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
-Minimum AS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management or equivalent experience
-3 years of systems admin / DBA support, implementation, or support expertise for client/server/Internet based ?custom application? in Microsoft environment.
-Experience with providing application support in a 24x7 environment

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
-2-5 years System Administration (Microsoft) at high level
-2- 3 years experience with Windows 2000 Server
-Two (2) years experience with Internet Information Server
-Configuration and Administration
-Understanding of http 1.0 / 1.1 protocol
-Basic familiarity with security protocols (SSL; TLS; certificates; etc)
-Two year of experience with SQL Server 2000 Database Server Administration
-1-2 years of experience with generation of T-SQL scripts and DTS Packages
-Knowledge concept of MTS/Component Services Configuration
-Functional knowledge of SQL
-Database performance & SQL tuning experience
-Practical implementation experience of schemas and stored procedures
-Understanding of core DB components, including replication
-Problem resolution duties
-Application Production Support Experience
-1-2 years experience working in a support environment
-Practical knowledge of problem management tools
