Job DescriptionSDG 22 - Software Verification and Validation Engineer

Position Responsibilities: The Software V&V Engineer will report to the Software Safety Program Coordinator and will not have any responsibility for the primary design decisions concerning safety PLCs or any other safety software under development by the Software Development Group (SDG). The V&V Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of Verification and Validation activities per IEEE 1012 for IROFS software. The V&V Engineer is responsible for the following primary V&V activities:
Providing independent analysis to insure that all developed software has had proper Verification and Validation throughout the project life-cycle.
Understanding of industry Requirements Tools (Rational, DOORS, CalibreRM, etc.) and be able to implement tools in an effective manner to support Traceability from up-stream to down-stream documents.
Ensuring that software safety analysis, SQA, and SCM are completed properly in accordance with the SDG requirements and the MOX project commitments.
Supporting V&V of software developed for the SIEMENS S7 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) development for both Class 1E and Non-lE applications.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in a related Computer or Engineering field
In lieu of a Bachelor of Science degree, the candidate shall have a minimum of 10 years of experience in software development for safety critical applications.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development, testing, and maintenance of software for automated industrial applications or in safety system design in the US commercial nuclear industry.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience with a formal software life-cycle environment from Concept through to Installation Phases.
Must be organized and have the ability to interact with key software developers in an efficient and effective manner.
Understanding of software safety analysis techniques (FTA, SPHA, Traceability, Code Safety Analysis)
Thorough understanding of Industry standards (IEEE, EPRI, NQA) and how they apply to specific V&V activity.
Must be proficient in developing V&V documentation including: Test Plans and Phase Summary Reports.
Foreign language - French
Previous experience with safety significant or safety related software developed for the US nuclear industry or software in the pharmaceutical industry.
