Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. Applications generally deal with utility programs, job control language, macros, subroutines and other control modules. Expected to work independently on most phases of software systems programming applications.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math or equivalent work experience.
* Typically 3 - 5 years programming experience.
* Excellent communication and organization skills; strong technical aptitude.

This position is for an enterprise monitoring analyst. The candidate will provide analytical and technical expertise in the identification and resolution of enterprise-wide monitoring challenges. Responsible for leading/coordinating design, testing, and implementation of monitoring infrastructure, setting and promoting monitoring standards, analysis and problem solving. Must be able to work with technical, management and business resources involving multiple technical silos.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (including % of Time)

20% support existing monitoring infrastructure
20% design, test, and implement new monitoring technologies
20% Create, support and document the business logic built around event processing
10% Create and socialize monitoring policy and best practices. Integrate monitoring platforms into a cohesive monitoring infrastructure.
10% Research and keep abreast of new technologies and contribute to the updating of the monitoring roadmap and strategy
10% Mentoring and training others with regard to monitoring best practices.
10% Provide monitoring consulting for ETG and business projects

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Expert understanding of the protocols relevant to enterprise monitoring including SNMP, TCP/IP, UDP, WEBM, etc.
- Broad based experience with monitoring tools, especially Mercury Interactive, Sitescope, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, CA, Unicenter NSM, HP Openview, or IBM Omegamon or IBM Netcool.
- Programming/scripting experience in Perl, C#, REXX, or .NET. SQL experience a plus.
- Advanced experience with one or more technical silos (mainframe, network, distributed servers (Wintel/Unix), or Business intelligence/Data warehousing/Database.At Progressive, status quo won't cut it.
