Software Configuration Management Analyst

Purpose:
The SCM Analyst works with other technology staff to install, develop, and maintain the tools and processes required to allow software artifacts to be tracked, stored, and documented appropriately. In addition, the SCM Analyst is responsible for designing processes and systems to ensure that software components can be efficiently combined into reproducible product releases that can be installed in all environments. The SCM Analyst also plans, coordinates, and approves software branches in TI’s source code repository, and plans, coordinates, and approves integration of completed components into baseline code. Specific Duties:
Identifies the development and QA environments to be used by each development project.
Ensures that the proper baseline code is loaded in the environment before the project team begins using the environment.
Authorizes the release to be built for and installed in the next environment.
Assists with customizing the standard build process for each release.
Approves the deployment and configuration documentation and approves the final build of the product(s) in each environment.
Creates and refines policies, standards, and guidelines to enable all project artifacts to be tracked appropriately.
Verifies that technology staff are following standards.
Recommends, designs, develops tools and procedures to track and document changes to project artifacts and baseline code, to monitor status and to generate metrics and reports.
Architects the process and tools used to produce and package release deliverables in a repeatable, efficient fashion for all environments.
Approves and implements integration of new software releases into the baseline code and into specific environments.
Takes a leadership role in planning the sequence and contents of software releases to minimize contention in environments and the code base during parallel development.
Assists technology staff in troubleshooting build problems. Takes a leadership role in resolving conflicts with environments, scheduling, or software components.
Manages Business Continuity Plan (BCP) processes and systems to safeguard our software assets in the event of an emergency.
Recommend and implement Software Configuration Management best practices.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred.
3+ years of SCM experience.
Experience with structured QA methodologies required.
Proficient in shell scripting, Ant, and Perl strongly recommended.
Keen ability to troubleshoot software and configuration problems.
Must be able to think and problem solve creatively.
Knowledge/experience of web technologies, Starteam, Oracle, Windows/NT, Solaris, HTML, and Java script a plus.
Excellent communications skills required.
