Purpose:
Senior Technology Manager – Internet Software Development

Tribune is one of the country's premier media companies, with broadcasting, publishing and Internet operations in the nation's major markets. Tribune Interactive, the Internet division of the Tribune Company, is currently seeking a senior Internet Software Development Manager to provide oversight and technical leadership for multiple software development teams charged with the support and enhancement of the software used to run Tribune Company's award winning newspaper and entertainment web sites. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that select software development teams rapidly develop and launch features while maintaining a sharp focus on production system availability and operating efficiencies.

REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

-BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent. MBA a plus.

-10+ years of professional experience, including the development of large, Internet applications with high operational and scalability requirements, and managing multiple, software development teams. Experience with offshore development teams a plus.

-Demonstrated experience with n-tier J2EE applications and knowledge of software design concepts, operating systems, database systems, computer networking, and security. Experience with open source solutions a plus.

-A strong knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and procedures.

-Ability to determine impact of architectural solutions and recommendations

-Demonstrated ability to provide oversight for multiple projects, with an emphasis on deploying high-performance solutions for consumer-facing systems

-Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional groups and generate results in matrix organizations. Must be able to excel in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities.

-Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Must have a strong customer focus and convey responsiveness and competence when dealing with internal customers, staff, peers, senior management, and vendors.

-Work experience that demonstrates a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

-Ability to reconcile and balance business priorities with software development methodologies
