System DBAs work to provide high availability and maintain optimal performance and response times in all DB2 subsystems. They also install DB2 software and other third-party software, research production problems and provide DB2 system monitoring and tuning. DBAs are also responsible for DB2 systems backup and recovery at all locations. If you have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or MIS or equivalent experience, and have experience with DB2 systems installations, you may be ideally suited for this position.Responsibilities :
Provide continuously available DB2 database systems, subsystems and software products to the firm across all data centers.
Install, plan, and implement DB2 software maintenance to maintain a stable DB2 environment utilizing SMP/E.
Provide DB2 database systems software support to other IS organizations.
Provide DB2 database system support for business continuity planning efforts to ensure processing can continue in the event of a disaster situation.
Evaluate DB2 database environments for problem areas and opportunities for tuning and initiate action when needed and report to management.
Lead database software enhancement efforts to utilize technology advancements.
Modify existing and create new database system software for specific enterprise needs.
Establish DB2 Database System software usage policies.
Knowledge of DB2 Database Systems performance and tuning.
Experience in setting up and maintaining a production database in a data sharing environment.Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience and formal training.
6 years or more of experience with DB2 database systems and third party systems tools.
Works in partnership to achieve results. -Good interpersonal skills, develops relationships, and seen as credible and trustworthy.
Seeks continual improvement.
Effective in team setting or as individual contributor.
Able to see big picture from a firm perspective.
Strong ability to quickly analyze issues, situations, and recommend solutions.
