SR UNIX ADMINISTRATOR

Job Description:RSIS has a full-time salary opportunity on our Social Security Administration project in Baltimore, MDRESPONSIBILITES:Technicians working in this activity area will be expected to provide senior level support in the implementation, development, and maintenance of UNIX (Solaris) operating systems and software. Activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Provide level 3 problem determination support in a UNIX / Solaris 8 - 10.0 environment. Provide system installation and configuration support, apply fundamentals of security, and install third-party software. Train users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management. Will manage a large site or network. Establish /recommend policies on system use and services Off-hours work may be required. Will carry a pager and provide off-hour technical support. Document all activities as required in the contract.REQUIREMENTS:1) 10 years of UNIX administration experience
2) Significant experience with TCP/IP
3) Experience with Solaris 8 & 10
4) BS Degree with 10 years experience or 12 years without a degree
5) Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
6) Must understand paging and swapping, interprocess communication, devices and what device drivers do, and file system concepts ("inode", "superblock")
7) Familiarity with fundamental Networking/distributed computing environment concepts;
8) Able to configure NFS and NIS, and can use nslookup or dig to check information in the DNS;
9) Understands basic routing concepts.
10) Ability to write Shell scripts
11) Provide technical expertise on Internet/Intranet connectivity and configuration issues
