SQL Server Senior Database Analyst

SQL Server Senior Database Analyst needed ASAP! This is a permanent position with a growing company in Sorrento Valley.



SUMMARY: Responsible for analysis, design, test and implementation of development and production database structures. The focus of this position will have responsibility in administration of the company's SQL database systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Participate in the software development life cycle to ensure accuracy, integrity, availability, and efficiency of corporate data.

· Review and analyze work products developed by software development group, including products developed by outside vendors.

· Manage database changes using best practices in configuration management.

· Consult with the software development staff on systems upgrade, or patch, to coordinate a schedule for applying the required changes.

· Configuration, administration and maintenance of the company's Windows SQL servers.

· Manage data backup process and assure ongoing data integrity.

· Monitor the corporate databases to ensure the corporate systems are available to the entire franchise community.

· Provide visibility to the performance of the corporate databases.

· Act upon Production alarms, anomalies, and changes.

· Work with Network Engineers to coordinate network problem resolution.

· Provide data and reports to the business where not available through production applications.

Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement activities.
Participate in product and project meetings.
Provide time estimates for completion of project tasks.
Provide status reports to Management.
Raise issues as needed and follow through on resolutions.

CONTACT RESPONSIBILITY:

Internal: System Support, Applications Development, Operations, and other Home Office associates.

External: Consultants, Professional organizations, and software vendors.

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor degree in Computer Science or technical training equivalent.

· Four to six plus years of work experience in the database analysis field.

· Strong understanding and working knowledge of SQL Server 7.0, 2000, and 2005

· Good understanding of software development life cycle.

· Strong problem solving and analysis skills.

Demonstrated ability to meet commitments.
Strong attention to detail.
Extensive work experience with development process and integration of QA process.
Work as a key contributor in a cohesive and highly productive team.
Internally motivated, with strong sense of initiative and desire to seek out and accept new challenges.
Working knowledge of version control principles
Must have experience working on projects from conceptual design to implementation.

REQUIREMENTS


Required Skills:

- 4-6 years experience in the database analysis field

- Strong working knowledge of SQL SErver 7, 2000, 2005.

- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

- Experience with the QA process
