SMD Software Architect

In addition, we develop optimized Consumer Electronics devices and Digital Home PCs, including content and service bundles to enhance the end-user experience. Digital Home Content Services Group mission is to accelerate the availability of content services on Intel platforms (PC, notebook, Speech Transaction Board, Digital TV, cell phone and handheld) with the goal to make content a strategic advantage for Intel platforms. In this position, you will be working with software, silicon and hardware platform architects to develop software architecture and designs in support of Streaming Audio and Video on embedded Consumer Electronics platforms. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Delivering Software Architecture Specifications, High Level Design documents and overseeing the implementation of streaming media software components
- Reviewing silicon and platform architecture specifications
- Providing input to silicon and platform architects on software and/or silicon and/or hardware interactions and requirements



job Requirements


You should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with more than seven years of experience or a Master of Science degree with more than four years of experience or a Ph.D. with more than two years of experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Strong software architecture and design skills, including Use Case based design methodologies
- Strong Intel® architecture and/or Intel XScale® Processor and Systems level knowledge
- Experience designing and developing embedded software on RTOS platforms
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in software and/or hardware architecture

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be an added advantage
- Digital audio and video streaming
- MPEG2, AC-3, H.264, WMV9 or VC-1 encoders and decoders
- Industry standards and software solutions for Conditional Access (CA), Digital Rights Management (DRM)
- Set-Top-Box applications such as IPTV, DMR (Digital Media Recorder), VOD (Video On Demand)
- Industry standards and solutions for delivery of audio and video content, such as Video over IP, ATSC*, NTSC*, DVB* or OpenCable*
