SAS Programmer

Responsibilities: The SAS Programmer role is 50% functional / 50% technical. This is a replacement for a full time employee who was promoted into another position. Duties include: Design and enhance databases. Design menu systems that are effective and user-friendly. Develop reports with accurate, easy to read, useful information. Design and generate tracking and monitoring tools. Test complex statistical SAS routines using macros, vendor software, and software written by self and others. Test and maintain data integrity; may assist with sophisticated statistical models and for casting tools using these databases. Assist with the definition of complex multi-dimensional healthcare issues and develop time tables/ processes for decision making. Develop creative alternative solutions. The SAS Programmer may translate needs, issues, and ideas into effective strategies and action plans. This person also may formulate specific implementation plans and evaluate the effectiveness of its actions/ programs implemented. This department is responsible for reporting, monitoring and implementation of OPAS system (OPAS is an appointment setting system, stands for Out Patient Appointment Setting). Currently the system uses SAS and they are converting to the EPIC system and EPIC uses Crystal (instead of SAS). The SAS Programmer will need to convert information from SAS to Crystal in order to run queries, etc. This role will also rewrite programs to Crystal. They are going to be going live 12/06.
