Reports Developer

Purpose: POSITION SUMMARY The Report Developer is responsible for writing, testing and maintaining corporate reports. This position works directly with business units to collect and convert report specifications into reports that present information in the most effective manner possible.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
This position reports directly to the IT Manager and indirectly to the Chief Information Officer, works in a team environment with the Information Technology Department and works cooperatively with all departments of the Company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Create reporting models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to end users with ad hoc query needs
- Meet with key personnel to review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing reporting procedures and develop strategies for aligning the reporting function with short- and long-term corporate goals and objectives
- Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of reporting structures
- Advise department and line managers regarding appropriate, effective, and efficient use of organizational reporting capabilities and functions
- Liaise with various business groups in the organization and prepare recommendations for improving reporting processes
- Oversee the implementation of reporting structures in regards to technical changes and change management
- Communicate and document reporting changes, enhancements, and modifications to management and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood. Develop routines and procedures for end-users to facilitate best practices use of reporting tools and applications.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other post-implementation support
- Conduct research and make recommendations on reporting tools, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts

- Attends departmental meetings
- Supports IT department with projects as assigned
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of
- Windows 2000/2003 Server operating systems
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or higher
- Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
- Microsoft Office Products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
- Microsoft .NET development platform (C# preferable)
- Relational database principles and concepts
- Stored Procedure development
- Project management principles

Ability to

- Be self-directed in the performance of duties and responsibilities
- Problem solve effectively under pressure while maintaining composure

Experience and Education:
- Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years related professional experience
- Knowledge of medical insurance concepts/terminology a plus, but not required
- Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services experience a plus, but not required
