Functions as a programmer/analyst with advanced problem solving and development skills, and/or as a team member to develop, upgrade and support complex clinical application systems and interfaces.Ensures that all systems are fully tested before implementation into production.Provides 24x7 level 2 application support.Provides mentoring and training to junior application analyst staff in the areas of system and interface analysis & design, specification development and documentation, end user training and CHI prescribed methodologies1. Completes assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets for implementations. Works to prescribed methodologies for all project implementations. May work on multiple implementations at any given time2. Develops complex reports, scripts, forms and interfaces according to required specifications.3. Develops detailed program and interface specifications.4. Documents complex business and system processes and procedures through the use of industry standard process flow and flow charting techniques.5. Tracks issues and resolutions throughout process while adhering to prescribed escalation procedures.6. Participates in coordinating the transition from implementation to production and application support.7. Provides mentoring and training to junior application analyst staff.
REQUIREMENTS
Five years experience working in clinical IT systems and applications/programming environment in a large, multi-facility healthcare system. Specific knowledge of Cerner Millennium CCL/SQL programming required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or related IT field and 3-5 years programmer/analyst experience in a IT and/or healthcare environment. Ten years experience in a programmer/analyst role may be substituted for the above requirement. Working knowledge and hands-on experience with Cerner Millennium preferred. Experience with CCL/SQL report writing tools (Discern Explorer, Visual Explorer), preferred. Prefer experience implementing and supporting Cerner Millennium CCL report writer (Discern Explorer, Visual Explorer). Exceptional written and oral communications skills. Effective in coordinating and facilitating meetings/conference call with multiple customers/vendors across time zones. Technical experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting interfaces. Working knowledge of communication transports like TCP/IP and FTP. Understanding and experience with Information Systems and data flow between main Hospital Information Applications and Clinical Information Applications, Knowledge of Health Care Industry and related Health Care Applications. The ability to establish effective working relationships with users, vendors, peers and management, and to develop successful plans of action with minimal direct supervision is essential. Strong technical programming, design, and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management and vendors. Ability to multitask, be self-directed and learn business context rapidly Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a project team. Possess the desire to learn and accept new challenges Has experience with process engineering, system design, requirements definition, testing, risk assessment and task management. Understanding of the systems development life cycle. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills Experience working with project deadlines and ability to work well under pressure. Working knowledge and hands-on experience required with UNIX and shell scripting. Supports and promotes the values of Catholic Health Initiatives.
